Hi! I’m Whimsy.
I’m a performer and facilitator who has a passion for story telling and empowerment through creativity, sensuality, and self-expression.
You might also know me as Layla Jasper @_the.dancing.therapist _ a somatic therapist blending my love of movement and healing at many levels.

My work spans burlesque, heels, twerk, belly dance, chair, roller skate performance, and theatrical storytelling—all informed by the rich history of dance as a tool of resistance, sensuality, and joy.
-
I carry a layered story in my body—shaped by growing up queer, neurodivergent, and artistic in a Southern Baptist household where whiteness and patriarchy were praised, but music, dance, and difference were quietly condemned. I was raised in a family DJ business while being told dancing was sinful. These contradictions shaped my desire to heal, move, and make space for others to reconnect with their bodies.
I move as an act against Purity Culture and respectability politics. My work now exists at the intersection of creativity, liberation, and embodied care.

As an instructor, I create spaces where people can explore their bodies without shame, tap into confidence, and move freely without the constraints of perfectionism or expectation. My classes and workshops blend technical skill with intuitive movement, drawing from my background in somatics, expressive arts, and mindfulness.
Whether you're here to learn a new style, find catharsis through movement, or simply take up space unapologetically—I welcome you.

Nature plays an important role in connecting with your place in nature. You can often find me dancing outside to experience more expansiveness.
Dancing out in nature and with nature is an important reclamation of wildness in a capitalistic and white supremacist society.
I thrive in the space where movement meets storytelling, healing, and reclamation. My work fuses the raw, expressive, and rebellious with the playful, sensual, and deeply embodied. Through my performance and teaching, I invite others into a space of self-expression, liberation, and connection.
